Dylan Charles
BIO
"It’s a physical performance. He plays and sings like he knows what he’s singing to the bone." -Parisa Mahdad, Kinofilia Arts Blog
Dylan Charles is an indie folk/roots-rock singer/songwriter and producer based in New York City. His songs blend soulful lyrics and powerful vocals with dynamic and intricate guitar playing. He draws from a wide array of influences across many genres, and fans have compared his sound to the likes of Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, The Head and the Heart, Ray LaMontagne and John Mayer.
Dylan has toured the US many times both as a solo artist and as a founding member of the soul band On the Sun.
In addition to his own projects, he frequently collaborates with other artists as a producer, co-writer and multi-instrumentalist.
Since the release of his full length album "Transmissions" in 2025, Dylan has been working on a new one called “Redemption”. This forthcoming album is a chronicle of his journey through addiction recovery, persevering in the face of adversity, facing the shadow, and learning what it means to have authentic, meaningful relationships with other people.
The first two singles “Wild Winter Wind” and “The Dogs and Me” are now available on all platforms.
Dylan was also a founding member of NYC-based soul band On the Sun. He wrote, sang back-up (and sometimes lead), and played guitar for the group from 2012-2019. On the Sun LP (2014), Gratuity Not Included EP (2018) and the single Get Focused (Live) (2019) all feature his work.
