BISBEE — Get ready to rock, Bisbee, at the street dance on Main Street this coming Sunday.

Joan Werner, Atlanta’s Books, helped to organize the block party that starts at 6 p.m. to raise money for the high school music programs.

“Almost every high school has a marching band, but Bisbee High School also has a rock band, Wall of Love,” said Werner.

Thirteen highly talented youths in Wall of Love have dedicated their time and effort to Dylan Charles Exploratory Music class for three years. Charles started it as a guitar class, but there were students who played other instruments that wanted in on the program. So, he told them to come one day a week. However, these future musicians wanted to learn more from their instructor and master their instruments, so they decided to come every day, explained Werner.

The musicians are: ninth-graders Joseph
Villasenor, Thomas Wacker and Lloyd Lemon; 10th-graders Josh Phillips, Wendy Wolfe and Sean Wolfe; 11th-graders Shelby Gonzales, Ruby Estrada, Damien Van Holt, Mat Huthoefer, Lily Troup and Randell Saline. The only senior is Toby Pirtoff, who also is a member of the high school concert and marching bands.

Huthoefer says, “I’ve always been into music but it took Dylan Charles’ class to help me start performing.”

To help raise money to keep the music programs going, folks can purchase Wall of Love T-shirts for $15. “Donations will also be gladly accepted as begging from the stage may occur,” added Werner.

Other Bisbee performers who will be there to support the effort in addition to Charles are Nowhere Man & a Whiskey Girl, and Roman Barten-Sherman, added Werner.

The street dance is cosponsored by the City of Bisbee and Atalanta’s Music and Books, with security donated by the Arizona Rangers.
